Erik Apelstein

Erik graduated from Boston University in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology. During his undergraduate years at BU, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Jamaica Plain VA Hospital helping veterans with Parkinson’s Disease undergoing physical/speech rehabilitation. Furthermore, he worked at a substance use and mental health treatment center in Baltimore, MD, where he was involved in various responsibilities such as patient intake, facilitating group therapy sessions, and presenting on topics such as the relationship between addiction and the brain. More recently, he worked in the TRANSCEND Lab at MGH, where his work focused on documenting the neurobiological and psychosocial elements of Autism Spectrum Disorder in subjects to better understand the the disorder and it’s impact on those living with it. He is currently working as a Mental Health Specialist in the Division of Neuropsychiatry and Neuromodulation. He plans on pursuing an MD and becoming a treatment resource for Ukrainian refugees, emphasizing non-invasive and holistic treatments. In his free time, he enjoys indoor bouldering, hiking, and playing the guitar.
